The Journey of the World Boxing Buddies Union (WBBU)

Formation and Early Discussions

Back in Beijing, China, a group of passionate individuals, including myself, came together to discuss the need for a dedicated boxing community focused on Asia. We wanted to create a platform that would not only promote and support boxing talents across the region but also develop strong ties between Asian and American boxing communities to achieve worldwide recognition.

Establishment of WBBU

After years of planning and collaboration, we officially established the World Boxing Buddies Union (WBBU) in 2014. This was a major milestone in our mission to foster the growth of boxing in Asia and beyond.

Elections and Leadership

In 2017, we conducted elections across 24 countries to select the chairman of WBBU. It was an incredible honor when I was elected chairman by the majority, giving me the responsibility to lead this initiative and push our vision forward.

Events and Achievements

Between 2017 and 2019, WBBU successfully organized around 17 to 18 boxing events. These events played a crucial role in developing boxing talent, particularly in China, and providing opportunities for athletes to showcase their skills. One of our biggest achievements during this time was producing a world champion, a moment that truly validated our efforts and established WBBU’s credibility in the boxing world.

Challenges Faced

The COVID-19 pandemic brought unexpected challenges. We had to withdraw our activities from China, and everyone had to return to their home countries. It was a tough period, and reforming the organization became difficult. Despite these setbacks, our vision for WBBU remained strong, and we continued working towards reviving our mission.

Looking Ahead

Although the pandemic disrupted our operations, my commitment to promoting boxing in Asia remains unwavering. The future holds new opportunities, and we are determined to regroup, overcome challenges, and continue our mission of supporting and growing the sport of boxing worldwide.
